Day 3 of the conference in Paris, France was a very tasty day, literally. In the past two days I have learned so much about myself due to my frequent trial and error experiences with French food. The ironic thing about today was that we had a speaker come by the name of Harriet Welty Rochefort. She wrote a book called French Toast, and another book called French Fried. She helped us understand a few things about French food. Here in France, everything is fresh. You will almost NEVER come across anything processed. I was raised eating, unknowingly, a lot of processed goods, seasoned food, and thoroughly cooked meats, I had a very hard time finding meals similar. Once you stay for a minute, you kind of adapt to the taste of a few things here.
Journalist Harriet Rochefort spoke on a few perks of life in Paris at the seminar as well as in her book called "Joie de Vivre" which means "The Joy of Life". Pertaining to food, she informed us that the French believe in "small". Everything is small. The tables, restaurants, even the portions of the food are all smaller. She let us in on a few perks about life in Paris. So far everything I have eaten on day three has been great so I'm kind of anxious to see what other foods I might find that I would like. Once you find that one food you like, it makes you appreciate the french culture a bit more, and it makes you anxious to explore the rest of the culture. You never know what you may experience here in the city of Paris, but until next time, like the French would say, “Au revoir!”
