The Notre Dame Cathedral

         It is not the largest Cathedral in the world, but the Notre Dame is one of the most famous of all Cathedrals. Cathedral Notre Dame is also known as the Notre Dame, is a historic Catholic Cathedral located on the eastern half of the lle de la Citė in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France. Which is on a small island in the heart of the city. The Notre Dame has always been the religious center of the city. Additionally, the Romans built a temple to worship Jupiter as well near the Notre Dame. Bishop Maurice de Sully started the construction of the Notre Dame in 1163. It was the first Cathedral built on a monumental scale and became the image for future Cathedrals. The Notre Dame was finally completed in 1345, partly due to the design being enlarged during construction. The Cathedral is 128m long (420 feet) with two 69 meter tall towers (226 feet). The spire, which is 90m (295 feet) which was added in the 19th century by Viollet le Duc. The windows on the Notre Dame are large rose designed, also the massive windows have a diameter of 13.1 meters. Above the portals in the Gallery of Kings 28 statues of Judean Kings and higher up are the famous gargoyles and grotesques.
