On their last days in Paris, the group tool time to tour the
awe-inspiring and historic sites, such as the Notre Dame Cathedral. This Cathedral
is a historic Catholic cathedral on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France. The cathedral is
widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture and among the largest and most
well-known church
buildings in the world.
“Leaving the
hotel at around 10:15am we attend mass at the Notre Dame Cathedral! The
opportunity to experience such an historic place was breathe taking. The
Cathedral had luminous stain glass windows and wonderful historic content to
learn the history of how it was built and the prominent people who were active
in the church” said student Benicia Curtis.
To add to the experience, they were able to stay and
experience the service for themselves, not only gaining new insight into a different
culture, but a religion as well. Not many people are familiar with the workings
of the Catholic religion; it is great to see open mindedness and the thirst to
learn about something foreign and new.
“Paying
close attention to the people around me I remain standing in respect as the
alter children, and priest make their way to the front of the auditorium. What
follow is a traditional service of scripture reciting, hymns, and the holiest
of holies. Communion! The service stirs my inner spirit so much that I
find myself holding myself back from jumping right into the middle of the
action.” Said student Chappe'll Moore.
The thrill to jump right into the ways of a new culture and
religion, to gain new perspective and experience, is an admirable trait, one
that makes us back here at PV proud!
