Locking in love over a bridge. Simple, Romantic and Cheap! Traveling in Paris can be an expensive excursion but one tourist location won’t cost you more than 3 Euros.
Many tourists’ and locals Parisians visit Pont de l'Archevêché or Pont des Arts which both bridges overlooks the Senie River.
The padlock sensation started appearing in early 2000's however, the ritual of padlocking your love to the bridge sources from "I Want You" by Italian author Frederico Moccia which later was made into the film-adaption Hovoglia Dite.
Most couples that visit either bridges are told by local Parisians that Pont de l'Archevêché is for the lover in your life and Pont des Art is for your committed love. Either way they both symbolize love and committed just in different ways.
Once finding a good open spot on the bridge, write you and your lovers name or whomever you might be committed to, lock the padlock to the bridge and toss the key into the river. If the seal of love and commitment to the individual is broken, tradition requires the individuals to either jump into the Senie River swim to the bottom find the key or use bolt cutters to release their love.
